Would you like to be a bullfrog,
or a spotted polliwog?
Or be a striped lizard,
sunning on a log?
Would you like to be a dolphin,
splashing through the sea?
Or be a sleepy 'possum,
Hanging from a tree?
Would you like to be a lion,
and be the jungle's king?
Or just a pretty bluebird,
with a happy song to sing?
Would you like to be a wise old owl,
and stay out every night?
Or be a pudgy panda bear,
all dressed in black and white?
I want to be just a kid,
so I can laugh and cry.
Because God made me just a kid.
And that's the reason why.
Welcome Kids, big and small, young and old! I hope my poems and stories will bring a smile to your face and a twinkle to your eye. You will find my writing wholesome and clean, with a bit of fun and inspiration sprinkled in. My wish for you is sunshine, blue skies, peace, and love. Now...enjoy my poems and stories.

What If?
If I eat a bag of popcorn, will I pop?
If I eat a roasted hotdog,
will it make me run and bark?
Will a slice of watermelon
make me wet from head to toe?
Will a crunchy cherry snow cone
make icicles on my nose?
If I eat a bowl of Jello
will I jiggle when I walk?
And will some Snickers candy
make me giggle when I talk?
Will a bowl of chocolate ice cream
make me shiver through and through?
Will blueberries on my cereal
make my little toes turn blue?

Goofy Words
Degoop is one I've never heard.
Spell wibblescritch if you choose.
But the goofiest of all is goozywooz.
Bonkerbash sures makes me smile.
Just say kebabble for a while.
Schplittenslod is hard to say.
To spell hexmangulate takes all day.
Have you ever heard the zeebie word,
or learned to say boosicleferb?
Bet you can't spell makwirtsenberg,
bejeckle, spoink, or cheedleblurb.
Think I'll just forget these goofy words!!!

The Mouse in Our House
There's a mouse in our house.
I saw the mouse in our house.
I don't know why the mouse
came to visit at our house.
I guess he thought we had some
mouse food in our house.
Stripes, our cat, was in the house.
A cat can usually catch a mouse.
But Stripes did not see the mouse
that came to visit at our house.
The mouse had shiny, buggy eyes
that looked around all in our house.
The mouse was really a cute mouse.
Elephants are really cute, too,
but we don't have an elephant
in our house.
Daddy tried to catch the mouse.
My brother chased the mouse
through every room in our house.
We didn't want to hurt the mouse.
We just wanted him out of our house.
The next day came at our house.
We looked and looked but
didn't see the mouse.
I guess the mouse left our house
when he didn't find mouse food
at our house.
So long, goodbye, cute little mouse.
I hope you find a nice mouse house.

Daphne the Dandelion
This is the story of Daphne the Dandelion. Daphne was a
weed that grew in Mr. Bigalow's front yard. She was different
and odd looking and nobody wanted her. Her leaves were dull,
not bright and shiny like the grass or dancing in the wind
like the flowers. That made Daphne sad so she just sat there
on the ground. One day, Daphne's stem began to grow.
And it grew, and it grew, and it grew. Then, almost like a
miracle, a pretty yellow bloom appeared at the top of Daphne's
stem. Now the grass and the other plants looked up to Daphne
and admired her beauty. Daphne was no longer a weed but a
cheerful yellow flower reaching for the sky. And Mr. Bigalow's
front yard was a much prettier place because of
Daphne the Dandelion and her beautiful yellow flower.

The Magic Tricycle
I have a secret that I've never told,
about my tricycle plated with gold.
My tricycle's magic but please don't tell.
It's a wonderful story so listen well.
Sometimes it's an army tank ready to fight.
Sometimes a black pony with patches of white.
Sometimes a red truck riding Lady and me.
Sometimes a tall ship sailing way out to sea.
Sometimes it's a rocket ship headed for Mars.
Sometimes a train with sixty-five cars.
We travel the Earth, just it and me.
There's no place we can't go,
For it's magic, you see.

My Story by Itsy
My name is Itsy. Mama named me that because I was little when I was little...well, you know what I mean. Sometimes she calls me "Little Girl" but Papa calls me "Little Lady." I like that best. I think I'm a really lucky dog. I think you will too after you read my story.
I was born three years ago at a house out in the country. I had two sisters and two brothers. We loved our mother because she took good care of us. She couldn't walk very well because a mean man hit her with a stick and broke her leg. I guess the man didn't like us either because one day I heard him say he was going to "take us off." That sounded scary.
He put all six of us in his car and then drove somewhere. We didn't know where. Then, all of a sudden, he stopped and put my sister out on the side of the road by a big house. Then he went to the next house and put my brother out. I was beginning to get scared. Then he stopped again and put me out at another house. Then he left. I don't know where he took my other brother and sister.
Now I was really scared. I didn't know what to do. I decided that the best thing I could do was to go to the house and hide. So I did. I hid under this big wooden thing. Then I felt a little better.
I guess I had been there for about two hours when I heard someone drive up and get out. It was a man in a red pickup truck. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to come out so he would see me. When he did, he picked me up and talked to me and petted me. Then I felt a lot better.
He carried me in his house and gave me some food and water. I looked at him and wagged my tail because I was hungry, I was real hungry. I hadn't had anything to eat in about three days. I decided then that maybe I had found a good home. Later that day, a lady came to the house. I thought that must be the man's wife. Right then I decided to call them Mama and Papa. Mama carried me to the doctor the next day to make sure I was okay.

I liked my new home. Mama and Papa took good care of me. I had plenty of food and water and toys and treats. And when it was cold, they would let me come in the house.
It was fun to live there. A nice little girl and her brother lived in the house next door. I played with them a lot. They had some cats that I wanted to play with but they would just run off and climb up a tree. That looked like fun. Papa would go out walking and would let me go with him and when he went somewhere in his pickup, he would let me ride with him. That was my favorite thing to do. My brother lived down the street and sometimes he would come to my house to see me. Papa liked to play with him and he liked to play with Papa, too.
When I was about two, we moved to a new house. I had lots of room to run and play. Some real nice people lived next door and I liked them. They would pet me and play with me and give me treats. It was fun to live there, too. And that's why I think I'm so lucky.
But I worry about my other brothers and sisters. I don't know what happened to them. I hope they have food and water and a warm place to stay when it's cold. Maybe they do. Maybe they're lucky like me.

To Laurie
I wish I had a penny,
I'd hide it in my shoe.
Or buy a stick of candy,
and give it all to you.
I wish I had a nickel,
I'd hide it in my shoe.
Or buy a bag of lollipops,
and give them all to you.
I wish I had a dime,
I'd hide it in my shoe.
Or buy a pack of bubble gum,
and give it all to you.
I wish I had a quarter,
I'd hide it in my shoe.
Or buy a book to color in,
and save it just for you.
I wish I had a dollar,
I'd hide it in my shoe.
Or buy a great big box of smiles,
and give them all to you.
I'd hide it in my shoe.
Or buy a stick of candy,
and give it all to you.
I wish I had a nickel,
I'd hide it in my shoe.
Or buy a bag of lollipops,
and give them all to you.
I wish I had a dime,

How Kermit Got His Shell
Kermit was a hermit crab that lived at the bottom of Blue Moon bay near a big ocean. He was always sad and lonely because he had no place to live like Oliver the Oyster and Clarence the Clam. Sometimes the Scallops would snicker and call him a "crabby ole crustacean." So Kermit would wander around on the bottom of the bay looking for a place to sleep. Oscar the spooky looking Octopus would follow Kermit around hoping for a chance to jump out and scare him.
Just behind the rock where Kermit would sometimes sleep, lived Sarah the Snail, a kind old grandmother snail that everyone loved, especially Kermit. Sarah had a large family, nine grand-snails and fourteen great-grand-snails. Sometimes they were sad, too, because they knew that Granny Sarah was getting old and probably wouldn't be around much longer to play chase and make them tuna salad.
Kermit enjoyed taking walks and would sometimes meet Granny Sarah down by the Coral Colony. "Well how's my favorite little friend?" she would ask. "Just fine, Miss Sarah, how are you?" he would reply. They would visit for a while and then go on their way.
One day, Kermit was feeling really lonely and decided to walk over to Granny Sarah's shell to visit for awhile, hoping she would offer him some of her famous tuna salad. When he arrived, Granny Sarah was not standing in the door like she usually was. So he knocked on her door and called out, "Miss Sarah, are you home?" There was no answer. "What could have happened to her?" he wondered. Just as he was about to leave, he looked down, and there, right beside his foot was a large clam shell with a note scribbled on it. So he picked it up and began to read. "Dear Kermit, I have gone away and will not be coming back. I know you're sad because you have no place to live, so I want you to have my shell since I won't be needing it anymore. Take good care of it and you will have a nice home for a long, long time. Your friend, Miss Sarah."
Kermit was really sad now, but he was excited, too. "Now, thanks to Miss Sarah, I have a place to live and sleep," he thought. Then Kermit snuggled into his new shell and, with a smile on his face, went sound asleep.
So Kermit the hermit crab lived happily ever after in his new shell. And thanks to Granny Sarah, he was no longer afraid of Oscar, the spooky looking Octopus.
